Brose Baskets Bamberg bolstered its frontcourt by signing center Trevor Mbakwe to a one-year deal. Mbakwe (2.07 meters, 25 years old) is coming off a great European rookie season, during which he made a name for himself as a rebounding and shot-blocking force playing with Virtus Roma. In his Eurocup debut, the big man averaged 6.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, which made him ranked 8th in rebounds and 5th in blocks in the regular season. In the Italian League, Mbakwe helped Roma to a place in the semifinals with 10.6 points, competition’s second best 10.1 rebounds and league leading 1.5 blocks per game. He raised his level in the playoffs, posting a double-double in seven of eight games he played, averaging 13.3 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in the postseason. Prior to his campaign with Roma, Mbakwe played college basketball with University of Minnesota.

"Mbakwe presented excellent basketball, both in college and in his first professional season for Virtus Roma”, said Bamberg’s Sports Director Wolfgang Heyder. “We are glad that we managed to sign him despite attractive offers from other teams, and we count on his strength in rebounding in the paint."
