Vule Avdalovic - BC Donetsk (photo BC Donetsk)Alba Berlin improved its backcourt for the upcoming season by inking playmaker Vule Avdalovic to a one-year deal, the club announced Tuesday. Avdalovic (1.89 meters, 30 years old) arrives from BC Donetsk, just as recently-signed head coach Sasa Obradovic. He averaged 11.4 points and 3.6 assists in 14 Eurocup games last season, helping Donetsk to become the second Ukrainian team to make it to the Quarterfinals. Avdalovic also led Donetsk to its first Ukrainian League title. A well-rounded veteran, Avdalovic arrived to Donetsk from from Cholet of France, where he played in the 2010-11 Turkish Airlines Euroleague averaging 8.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 10 appearances with the team. Before playing in France, Avdalovic had spent some years in Spain between Valencia and Alicante. He grew up in Partizan youth teams and made his pro debut there in 1998. He stayed there until 2005 before moving to Spain. His best Euroleague season came in 2004-05, when he averaged 13.1 points and 4.1 assists in 10 games with Partizan. "I am pleased that Vule chose Alba over other interesting offers. He has great character and understands the game very well," Obradovic said. "He was our leader in Donetsk last season. With DaShaun Wood and Heiko Schaffartzik joining him at point guard, we have a lot of options and become more unpredictable for out opponents."
