ANADOLU EFES nabs Lucas
Anadolu Efes Istanbul improved its backcourt by adding combo guard Jamon Lucas, who inked a two-year deal with the Turkish powerhouse on Tuesday. Lucas (1.91 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Galatasaray Medical Park, where he averaged 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals in 16 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season. He boosted his numbers up to 12 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 6 Top 16 games, leading this phase in steals (2.5 spg.). He led Galatasaray in assists, steals and performance index ranking (10.7 per game). This will be Lucas' fourth consecutive Euroleague season with as many different teams. Lucas played the 2010-11 Euroleague season with Olympiacos, reaching the Playoffs. He had a strong 2009-10 Euroleague with Maroussi BC of Greece, averaging 11.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 16 games and helping his team to go from the Qualifying Round to the Top 16. Lucas played college ball at Virginia Tech fom 2003 to 2007. That same year he moved to Turkey to make his pro debut with Antalya Belediye. He moved to Germany in the summer of 2008 to play with the Koln 99ers, but in January of 2009 he joined KK Split of Croatia, where he led the Croatian League in steals per game with 3.1. After that, he was called by Maroussi to join the Greek League and also make his Euroleague debut, staying in the competition for the last three years until he joined Efes.
