GALATASARAY signs big man Erceg for two seasons

Zoran Erceg - CSKA Moscow - EB12_44632Galatasaray Liv Hospital signed sharpshooting big man Zoran Erceg, who returns to Istanbul after a brilliant 2011-12 campaign with Besiktas. The sides agreed to a two-year contract. Erceg (2.11 meters, 28 years old) arrives from CSKA Moscow, with whom he averaged 6.2 points on 37.5% three-point shooting and 2.5 rebounds in 15 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season. He helped CSKA reach the Final Four in London and win the Russian and VTB United League crowns. Erceg did miss several months early in the season with an Achilles tendon tear and a right soleus muscle injury. With Besiktas two seasons ago, Erceg won the Turkish League and the FIBA EuroChallenge.

Erceg grew up with Polet Keramika Novi Becej in his native Serbia and first joined FMP as a 17-year-old. He made a name for himself by leading FMP to the ULEB Cup semifinals in 2006-07. Erceg penned a three-year deal with Olympiacos Piraeus in 2008. He reached the Final Four in the first of those seasons. In between he spent one season on loan at Panionios. Among his early career highlights were winning the 2004 Adriatic League and a pair of Serbian Cup trophies with FMP. Erceg has also represented the Serbian national team in the past.
