SLUC Nancy is French champion! SLUC Nancy is the French League champion. After three unsuccessful trips to the French League title game, Nancy erupted on Sunday to beat defending champion Choral Roanne 84-53 and lift the crown themselves. Jeff Greer posted 29 points and 10 rebounds – both season highs – to earn the MVP award as Nancy secured its first berth to compete in the Euroleague. Victor Samnick and Jeff Greer helped Nancy during a 14-5 first-quarter run to give their team the lead for good, but Roanne hung tight throughout the half to trail only 45-34 at halftime. But by holding the defending champs to just 9 third-quarter points, Nancy opened a 23-point lead after 30 minutes and another excellent defensive effort in the last period allowed Nancy to celebrate early. Nancy took 16 offensive rebounds and won the overall battle of the boards 46-34. Samnick added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Nancy, Cyril Julian had 15 points and 8 rebounds and Ricardo Greer amassed 5 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Marc Salyers paced Roanne with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Derrick Byars added 11 points.
