Champs back to final: CSKA 62-50 Unicaja
CSKA Moscow is back in the Euroleague title game! The defending champs overcame Unicaja 62-50 Friday evening in the first semifinal of the 2007 Euroleague Final Four at Athens Olympic Indoor Hall in the Greek capital. David Andersen had 12 points and 9 rebounds and Theodoros Papaloukas scored 11, dished 4 assists and had 5 big steals to lead CSKA. Unicaja, playing without injured center Daniel Santiago, got 13 points from Cabezas, Marcus Brown added 8 and Berni Rodriguez 7.
COACH INTERVIEW, Sergio Scariolo
Sergio Scariolo will have his work cut out at this Final Four, as his Unicaja charges are considered by many to be the outsiders. However, known for his wily tactical surprises this could be the perfect opportunity for coach and players to pounce together and make history in the team's first appearance at the Euroleague Final Four.
PLAYER INTERVIEW, Marcus Brown
When he walks on the floor at the Final Four in Athens, one player will be as hungry as any other to leave with a Euroleague title. Marcus Brown of Unicaja has not only earned his reputation as a supreme competitor, but is one of just two players in Euroleague history to surpass 2,000 points in his career. Brown did that after sitting out most of the season with an injury and losing his first-place rank on the all-time scoring list.
FINAL FOUR BLOGGER, Carlos Cabezas
Let me tell you about the mood in Malaga after we made the Final Four. People are really excited! It was a dream come true for a lot of people around here, not just the players and the club, but the fans who have been supporting us for such a long time. Maybe for people waiting for a reason to visit Athens, too! We're bringing with us our own "marea verde": that's "green wave" in Spanish.
FINAL FOUR FAN MAIL, Jiri Welsch
In his return to the Euroleague after four seasons, Unicaja swingman Jiri Welsch has hit the jackpot with his first Final Four appearance. And due to Welsch's diverse basketball background fans from everywhere in Europe took advantage of the opportunity to ask Welsch their questions.
FINAL FOUR VIDEO PROFILE, Carlos Jimenez
Only a handful of players can brag that they captained the basketball world champions, but Unicaja's
is one of them. Jimenez was one of Unicaja's biggest addition last summer. After spending his whole career with Estudiantes, Jimenez joined Unicaja and moved from small forward to power forward.
