The Take

Khimki Moscow Region (10-8) welcomes Olympiacos Piraeus (13-5) in Round 19 for another double week of action in the EuroLeague. Coach Georgios Bartzokas will be playing against his former team with which he won the title back in 2013. The Reds dominate the historic matchups, 2-5, and also won in their latest meeting in the first leg by 92-75 with 17 points by big man Nikola Milutinov. Khimki relies on scoring ace Alexey Shved (22.3 ppg. plus 4.3 apg.), together with James Anderson (10.5 ppg.) and Anthony Gill (9.4 ppg.). Olympiacos looks to Georgios Printezis (11.8 ppg.), Jamel McLean (9.1 ppg.) and Milutinov (8.6 ppg. and 5.2 rpg.), but with Vassilis Spanoulis back in the fold, the team's options have increased exponentially. It will be a tough defensive battle in Russia with two teams that excel in that department. The physical aspect of the game will have an important weight in the outcome of the second duel for both teams in a hectic week.

Head Coaches

BARTZOKAS, GEORGIOS
Khimki Moscow Region
"We have two EuroLeague games in a row under some circumstances that maybe we can control, depending on the previous result, playing time, trip, injures and how exhausted is the team. We know, right now Olympiacos has a really deep roster from the first player until the last one. Also, they have had the same coach and a bunch of Greek players for a long time. They know how to play together and handle situations. It’s going to be a difficult game but I think we have a chance to win, just in the only one way, I mean playing like we did in the second half with Crvena Zvezda yesterday. We have to play as a team and understand how it is important to win a game at this level. We are still learning from this difficult EuroLeague. We are still having many ups and downs. It’s a fact that we are playing without Robinson, our best rebounder. So, we are trying to cover his back and need extra effort, especially tomorrow, because Olynpiacos has a lot of inside players."
SFAIROPOULOS, IOANNIS
Olympiacos Piraeus
"We have already forgot last night's game against Maccabi. We cannot look back. The most important game is the following game. Against Khimki we have to focus on our plan. Shved is Khimki’s most important player on offense, not only for scoring, but also in creation. But we have to play good team defense, because besides Shved Kimki has many good shooters that can kill you."

Players

ZUBKOV, ANDREY
Khimki Moscow Region
"We have to play tough and have the right mood. This is EuroLeague where there are no easy or soft games. Everything will start from our defense. We lost to Olympiacos in Greece and now we’ll have a fighting spirit. Each game is very important right now because all the teams are struggling for play-off spots. We’ll do everything for this win and will fight on Thursday."
MANTZARIS, VANGELIS
Olympiacos Piraeus
"Khimki is a good and dangerous team. It counts two straight defeats on its home court, so they will try hard for the win. As far as it concerns us, we will definitely give our 100 percent to take another win. The key will be the good defense and the factor of 3-point shots. If we managed to eliminate their 3-point numbers, then we will have good chances to win."
