Demond Mallet's 18 points paced four players in double figures as DKV Joventut remained undefeated in Group A with a comfortable 68-85 road victory against KK Bosna in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mallet also had three rebounds, four assists and three steals for the 4-0 Spanish side, who led from start to finish. Petar Popovic added 14 points and seven rebounds while Ferran Laviña had 12 points and Lubos Barton 11 points. Joventut led 35-44 at halftime but Laviña broke the game in a 0-8 run that gave his team a 39-52 lead. Bosna needed a quick comeback in the fourth quarter, but Joventut boosted its margin to 53-81 and left Sarajevo as the team to beat in Group A.

Popovic scored the game's first two baskets and his score gave Joventut the lead 5-11. Bavcic hit the first of his threes to cut the margin to 8-11. But Mallet knocked down two long balls to push the advantage to 8-17. Williams scored the first basket of the second frame but Jagla answered and Pau Ribas's three-ball opened a 10-point gap - 20-30. Barton's three-pointer made it 22-35 while a long ball by Ikonic and a Rahimic basket trimmed the margin to 33-38. However a late score by Lonny Baxter saw the Spaniards leading 35-44 at the break. Kyle Hill opened the third quarter and Williams followed to make it a 39-44 game only to see Lavina start an 0-8 run which made it a 39-52 game. Two foul shots by Fernandez saw DKV pull ahead 40-56. The Bosnians tried to come back with a three-ball by Hill and a three-point play by Rahimic cutting the lead to 48-60. Another 0-8 surge followed though and the advantage was 20 points again. Rahimic cut the deficit to 50-68 after three periods. Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca opened the fourth quarter with a basket and a three-ball by Fernandez and a Mallet score pushed the advantage to 50-75. Lavina then knocked down two three-balls for a 53-81 lead and his two foul shots made it 58-85 with just minutes remaining. The Spaniards relaxed the rest of the game as Bosna scored the final 10 points to make it a bit more respectable.

"Me and the players got a real basketball lesson. I feel responsible for the loss, but I hope the players will realize that they can play against a strong team like Joventut only with strenght and discipline and only if they fight for every point."
GARCIA RENESES, AITO
DKV Joventut
"Bosna has a shorter team than us and we were able to use this factor to our advantage. But we were able to secure the win in this match only after we stopped their outside players."
