Lietkabelis Panevezys rallied from a double-digit deficit on home floor to return to the semifinals of the Lithuanian Cup, downing Pieno Zvaigzdes 86-76 on Tuesday night. Lietkabelis found itself behind by 11 points, 23-34 with 7 minutes to go in the second quarter. But Vaidas Cepukaitis, Zygmantas Skucas and Lorenzo Williams with back-to-back triples helped tie the game, 40-40, at halftime. In the first 3 minutes of the second half, Lietkabelis took control with an 11-0 run sparked by a Gintaras Leonavicius three-pointer, before Simas Jasaitis went on a scoring run that helped the hosts stay in front. Vyacheslav Bobrov, who finished with 16 points, and Lis Shoshi kept Pieno Zvaigzdes in striking range, but with a help from Darjus and Ksistof Lavrinovic, Lietkabelis opened a double-digit margin and ran away with victory. Jasaitis finished with 20 points, Williams had 14, and Darjus Lavrinovic scored 10 in victory. Last year’s finalist Lietkabelis will face off in the semis against either the reigning Cup holder Zalgiris Kaunas or Siauliai.
In the first quarterfinals, Alytas Dzukija upset Neptunas Klaipeda 77-85 on the road, as Nikolaos Stylianou scored 19 points while Parrish Petty had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in victory. Dzukija will play either Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius or Juventus Utena in the semifinals.
