Gran Canaria and playmaker Oliver stay together
Herbalife Gran Canaria will have veteran playmaker Albert Oliver to lean on for their Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut after the sides came to terms on a deal for the coming season, the club announced Wednesday. Oliver (1.87 meters, 40 years old) is set to start his sixth season with Gran Canaria. He averaged 5.7 points on 96.6% free throw shooting and 2.8 assists in 16 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. Oliver started his career with Sferic Terrassa and also played for Sant Josep Badalona, Joventut Badalona, Basquet Lleida, Basquet Manresa, Valencia Basket and Estudiantes Madrid before joining Gran Canaria in 2013. Oliver has also been a member of the Spanish national team, too. He helped Gran Canaria reach the EuroCup Finals in 2015 and the Copa del Rey title game in 2016 and win the Spanish SuperCup in 2017. Oliver is set to make his EuroLeague debut at age 40 after a distinguished EuroCup career; he leads that competition in assists (393) and ranks fourth in games played (117).
