Olympiacos Piraeus made official on Tuesday the addition of forward Axel Toupane to a two-year deal. Toupane (2.01 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas, where he had a break-through season in 2017-18. In 34 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, Toupane started in 21 to average 6.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in helping his team reach the Final Four for the first time since 1999. He made his debut in his native France with Pau-Orthez, but he played the bulk of his pro career with Strasbourg, where he made his pro debut in 2011. After a few years there, he also played in the NBA with several teams, but was back to Europe last season to join Zalgiris, with whom he won the Lithuanian League and Cup titles.
