Gescrap BB adds size with Samb
Gescrap BB boosted its frontcourt by signing big man Mamadou Samb for the remainder of the season with an option for the 2012-13 season. Samb (2.08 meters, 22 years old) actually signed in late January, but has only been eligible to play in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague starting with this week’s contest against Real Madrid. He arrives from fellow Spanish club CB Granada, for whom Samb averaged 3.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in 28 games last season. A native of Senegal, Samb joined the FC Barcelona youth teams as a teenager. He also played for C.B. Sant Josep Badalona and WTC Cornella in the inferior Spanish divisions. Samb has obtained Spanish citizenship too and helped Spain to a bronze medal at the 2009 European Under-20 Championships in Greece.
