Union Olimpija brings back Rannikko
Union Olimpija Ljubljana reached an agreement with fan favourite point guard Teemu Rannikko to bring back to the club next season. Rannikko (1.88 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Cimberio Varese, where he averaged 7.4 points and 3 assists in 31 Italian League games last season. Rannikko played two Turkish Airlines Euroleague seasons with Olimpija from 2005 to 2007. he averaged 14.6 points and 3.3 assists in 13 Euroleague games in 2006-07. He helped Olimpija to win the Slovenian double - league and cup titles - in 2005-06. Rannikko has also played for Granada in Spain, BC Khimki Moscow Region in Russia, Scavolini, Roseto, Reggio Emilia and Benetton in Italy, as well as Piiloset in his native Finland. He is also a regular member of the Finnish national team. Rannikko helped Khimki to win the Russian Cup in 2008 and reach the Eurocup final in 2009. He also lifted the Finnish Cup trophy with Piiloset and helped Reggio Emilia to win the Italian second division title. "I am pelased to return to Ljubljana and play against for Union Olimpija. I love its fans and wanted to come back. I am looking forward to play at Stozice Arena and for a coach I know well," Rannikko said. "I want to prove that I can play at this level. I will my give my best to help the team to play good basketball."
