Olympiacos re-signs Dorsey through 2014
Reigning Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion Olympiacos Pireaus reached a new agreement with center Joey Dorsey to stay together until the end of the 2013-14 season, the club announced Saturday. Dorsey (2.03 meters, 28 years old) arrived midway through the 2011-12 season and helped Olympiacos to improve in defense and toughness. Dorsey started the season with Caja Laboral, but didn't see much playing time with the Spanish powerhouse. Once he joined Olympiacos before the start of the Top 16, Dorsey became a pillar in the Reds' frontcourt, as he averaged 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in that phase. Dorsey was instrumental in the fourth quarter of the semifinal against FC Barcelona Regal, generating second-chance options for his team with his offensive boards. Dorsey had 8 points, 5 rebounds and a great impact on that game. Dorsey helped Olympiacos to win both the Euroleague and the Greek League titles for the first time since 1997. He spent the previous three seasons in the NBA, where Dorsey played in a total of 61 games for Houston, Sacramento and Toronto. Dorsey averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 42 NBA games with Toronto in 2010-11. Previously, Dorsey helped the University of Memphis to reach the 2007 NCAA final four.
