SAV Vacallo Basket started the Swiss League finals in style by dumping Lugano Tigers 87-68 behind 17 points and 8 rebounds from Nikola Dacevic. The hosts outscored the Tigers 26-10 in the second quarter to take a 48-29 halftime lead, which would prove to be the final margin. Vacaalo shot 11 for 25 (44%) from downtown compared to just 2 for 16 (12.5%) for Lugano, a key difference in the outcome. Rickey Gibson added 16 points for Vacallo, Martin Mihajlovic posted 13 points and 9 boards and Dejan Lukovic scored 10 and dished 8 assists for the winners. Mohammed Abukar paced Lugano with 13 points and Kameron Gray added 11 points and 5 assists. Game 2 takes place on Saturday at Lugano.
