Founded in 2017, Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul is the youngest team in the 7DAYS EuroCup. Part of a large private education provider, the club started in Turkey’s second division in the 2017-18 season by acquiring Acibadem Universitesi Istanbul's participation rights. In its maiden campaign, Bahcesehir finished sixth in the regular season and then reached the playoffs finals and lost. In July 2018, Eskisehir Basket announced its withdrawal from the Turkish first division and Bahcesehir was granted the vacant spot in the Turkish League. In its first season in the first league, Bahcesehir amassed a 13-15 record to finish ninth and missed the playoffs by just one game. Bahcesehir also was crowned champion of the Turkish Federation Cup. The team’s performance in its first season garnered it a spot in the FIBA Europe Cup in 2019-20, in which it made its international debut and reached the semifinals. The chance for a historic trophy was taken away when the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bahcesehir struggled to start the Turkish League regular season as it slumped to a 1-9 start, however, it played much better basketball afterward. It had a 7-16 record and sat 14th in the standings when that competition's season was called, too. Now set of its EuroCup debut, Bahcesehir will look to show the rest of Europe that being a young club doesn’t mean it can’t have success.
