Developing players and winning titles seems to have become second hand for BC FMP of suburban Belgrade. Not only was FMP the only team to take part in each and every edition of the ULEB Cup, also managed to develop players such as Bojan Popovic, Mile Ilic, Goran Nikolic, Dejan Milojevic, Ognjen Askrabic, Marko Marinovic and Zoran Erceg, among many, many others.
Moreover, FMP won each and every junior tournament last season with players like Dejan Musli and Andrija Milutinovic, who should join the team in the near future to keep FMP competitive by all means. Founded in 1975 as FMP Zeleznik, the team landed in the first division only in 1997 and immediately won the Yugoslav Cup in that season. It then became a regular qualifier for the Korac and Saporta Cup competitions before the ULEB Cup was founded, but there were no other big successes until 2002-03, when FMP won the Serbia and Montenegro Cup for the second time. Although Reflex posted a 9-1 record in the first-ever ULEB Cup, even beating eventual champ Pamesa Valencia in their group, the season ended bitterly, as Joventut Badalona downed the team the quarterfinals. Domestically, Reflex made the YUBA finals, but was swept by Partizan. Those defeats fueled Reflex's drive to come back stronger than ever in 2003-04. After going 9-1 for the second year in a row in the ULEB Cup, Reflex avenged the loss to Joventut in the quarterfinals before being knocked out by eventual champ Hapoel Jerusalem in the semis by a single point. Next, Reflex flexed its muscles and became Adriatic League champ, vindicating a season of hard work and success throughout. Another Serbia and Montenegro Cup title came in 2005, followed by its second Adriatic League trophy in 2006. FMP returned to the ULEB Cup semifinals in 2007, losing against Lietuvos Rytas by a narrow margin, as well as making it to the Adriatic League finals against Partizan. Last season, FMP missed the ULEB Cup elimination rounds and did not have the chance to fight for any title. With huge talent arriving from its junior team, FMP has a winning formula that is making it a fixture atop league standings and a team to watch out for in the Eurocup.
