BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque hit 14 triples, used huge fourth quarter, and rallied from a 13-point deficit to beat the visiting CAI Zaragoza 85-67 on Tuesday. Win improved Gravelines to 4-1, in a share of the top spot in Group D, while Zaragoza drops to 2-3, in a share of the fourth place in the standings. The game of streaks started with the visitors grabbing an early 2-15 lead, only for Gravelines to end up in front 33-22 in the second quarter. But Zaragoza answered with a 0-14 spurt in the second, and a 0-10 run at the start of the third quarter, going up 41-54. However, Gravelines rallied, and hit 4 triples during an 18-4 run at the start of the fourth quarter to go back in front, taking the lead for good. Jonathan Rousselle and D.J. Kennedy led in victory. Rousselle sunk 5 of 8 triples for 21 points, and added 5 assists and 5 rebounds to his tally, while Kennedy netted 20 on 5 of 7 three-point shooting. Marcus Lewis chipped in with 15 for Gravelines, while Pere Tomas scored 16 for Zaragoza. Damjan Rudez had 12, and Jonathan Tabu 10 in defeat.

Zaragoza made the first punch, with Tabu hitting a triple, before Rudez scored couple more in a 2-15 run that opened the game. Gravelines was quick to reply as Cyril Akpomedah and Rousselle sunk three-pointers, and Lewis scored couple of buckets for 15-17. After Viktor Sanikidze and Kennedy traded shots from long range, a triple from Juby Johnson and a basket-plus-foul from Gary McGhee caped a 10-0 run for 28-20 after 10 minutes. Rousselle’s three-pointer made it 33-22 early in the second, but the visitors used its defense for 5 fastbreak buckets, needing only 3 minutes to put together a 0-14 run, and re-take the lead, 33-36. With Tomas scoring 8 consecutive points, Zaragoza opened 36-42 advantage, but a triple from Akpomedah helped the hosts cut it to 41-44 at halftime. The visitors had a strong opening to the third quarter as fastbreak points from Rudez and Tomas, before a triple from Tabu, extended it to 41-54. Lewis snapped the run, and scored 7 consecutive points for the hosts, and with help of Rousselle's third triple, Gravelines halved the deficit. The visitors held 55-62 after three quarters, but Kennedy and Johnson hit back-to-back triples to start the fourth, and Johnson's layup put the hosts back in front, 63-62. Run did not stop there, as Rousselle and Kennedy each hit couple more triples, extending the run. Gravelines did not allow a single field goal in the final 4 and a half minutes, ending the game with a 15-1 run, to seal a big win.
