David Logan scored 12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as Alba Berlin pulled away for 57-77 road win over Belfius Mons Hainaut on Tuesday night. Win improves Alba to 4-1 in a share of the Group D lead, while Belfius Mons remains winless midway through the regular season campaign. Even though Berliners led for majority of the game, the hosts remained close for three quarters before Logan led Alba to a double-digit advantage it never relinquished. Alongside Logan, Vojdan Stojanovski was the other visitors’ double-digit scorer with 12 points, while Uros Slokar chipped in with 9 for Berliners which shot 12 of 18 from the three-point range. Talor Battle had 14 points for the hosts, while Monwell Randle and Demontez Stitt scored 12 apiece in defeat.

During the first quarter, the hosts put together a 13-4 spurt during which Robert Vaden scored from long range, and Jason Love had four points for 16-11. But Stojanovski finished the quarter with a triple for Alba, and the visitors took the lead at the start of the second with three-pointers from Akeem Vargas and Logan. Another three-pointer, this time from Jan-Hendrick Jagla midway through the quarter, made it 20-26. The hosts cut it within a single possession with baskets from Battle and a three from Randle, but Stojanovski hit another one from downtown for the visitors, and 27-32 halftime lead. At the beginning of the third quarter, Logan and Reggie Redding hit triples for the visitors, but Randle and Vaden answered from long range for 36-39. But that is as close as the hosts got. After another basket from Logan and a triple from Alex King, the hosts answered through Battle and Demontez Stitt, getting within 45-50 at the start of the fourth quarter. However, Logan had a fastbreak layup and a three-pointer for Alba to pull away 45-57. Battle answered with 7 consecutive points, but Logan and Redding hit back-to-back triples for 52-67 to seal the deal.

Head Coaches

DEFRAIGNE, YVES
Belfius Mons Hainaut
"When you begin the game with concentration, you can't make so many mistakes due to a lack of enthusiasm specially at the moment the opponents are in confidence. For example, we pay cash, as it remains one second, a negligence on a player of Berlin. And we let the game going at the rythm of our opponents... It's a question of mentality, and currently we cannot last long, because players disregard orders."
OBRADOVIC, SASA
Alba Berlin
"As we played a very tough game in the championship against Bayern Munich, we began the first quarter wrong, letting our opponents to be in confidence. Of course, we knew that Mons was having many problems due to injuries, and also the team had difficulties in the rotations. Finally, we made the difference thanks to Logan who controlled the game, and he was also very good in the shoots. Now we have made what we intended to do and now I want my team to focus on the next games."

"We're not at a good level currently as far as Eurocup and Belgian championship are concerned. Nevertheless, we made a very good first quarter, and with five points behind, at the half time, everything was possible, but we made mistakes at crucial moments, and we were unable to come back."
WOHLFARTH-BOTTERMANN, JONAS
Alba Berlin
"As far as the first place was concerned, it was necessary to win outside, because a lot of teams succeeded to do it in the games before. In fact, we improved some difficulties during the first half, and at the beginning of the third quarter, because our hosts were playing with much aggressiveness in defense. After, all became easier, with the control of the game, and our precision in the shoots at three points. We also compensated our turnovers by aggressive intensity in the rebounds, and in the last quarter we knew everything was done."
