Fotu leads Ulm to double-overtime home win
In a double-overtime thriller, ratiopharm Ulm bested Galatasaray Istanbul 103-92 at home on Wednesday. Both teams now have 1-1 records. Ismet Akpinar led the winners with 26 points, Isaac Fotu added 19, Javonte Green had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals and Dwayne Evans tallied 11 points for Ulm. Nigel Hayes led Galatasaray with 26 points and 13 rebounds and Marko Arapovic scored 20 points. Tai Webster recorded 17 points and 10 assists and Jaka Klobucar added 10 points for the visitors.

Akpinar had other ideas, scoring 8 points in a 18-1 run that Katin Reinhardt capped with a layup to put Ulm ahead, 68-67, with over four minutes left in regulation. Webster and Arapovic combined for all the points in a 0-7 run, but a driving layup by Akpinar sent the game to overtime, 78-78. A tip-in by Evans put Ulm in charge, 84-82, with 54.3 seconds left in the first overtime. Green and Klobucar exchanged free throws before a layup by Webster forced double overtime, 85-85. Fotu took over in the second extra period with his team's first 9 points, including a triple that sealed the outcome, 92-86.

With Galatasaray up by 14 at the start of the fourth quarter, Ulm improved its defense and went on a game-saving 18-1 run that eventually allowed the German powerhouse to win the game.
