PAOK Thessaloniki held off Buducnost Voli Podgorica 69-75, for the second head-to-head win in the Montenegrin capital on Tuesday. Victory improved PAOK to 4-2 in Group F, while Buducnost dropped to 2-4. The visitors pulled away with a run late in the third quarter, building 50-61 lead, before Suad Sehovic rallied Buducnost. However, Kostas Charalampidis and D.J. Cooper sealed the deal in the final 70 seconds. Charalampidis netted 21 points in victory, while Cooper collected 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Giorgios Bogris scored 17 points, and Mark Payne had 13 in victory. For the hosts, Sehovic finished with 18 points and 6 rebounds, Aleksa Popovic added 14 points, while Jeleel Akindele collected 8 points plus 10 rebounds.
PAOK took lead and control in the early going, with Bogris and Payne combining for 10 points. Akindele led the hosts’ offense, but in the end of the first quarter, Leonidas Kaselakis nailed a triple as PAOK held 17-22 after 10 minutes. Nikola Ivanovic and Milos Komatina nailed triples for Buducnost at the start of the second quarter, but Cooper and Georgios Dedas kept the visitors ahead with 10 points between them, 28-34. The hosts answered with a 10-2 run, fueled with dunks from Vladimir Mihailovic and William Coleman, but Bogris and Cooper made sure PAOK takes 38-40 into halftime. After Aleksa Popovic and Charalampidis traded threes in the opening minutes of the third quarter, Payne hit another three-pointer for PAOK and 45-52. After baskets from Cedomir Vitkovac and Coleman for the hosts, Bogris, Cooper and Payne orchestrated a 1-9 run and 50-61 late in the third. At the start of the fourth, the hosts did not allow a point for more than 4 minutes, and after Sehovic strung together 9 points, including a triple, Buducnost cut it to 60-65. With baskets from Komatina and Aleksa Popovic the hosts came within 64-68, but Charalampidis nailed a jumper and Cooper a triple for the visitors to seal the deal.
