Barking beats Reyer for fifth place

U18 Barking Abbey London led from start to finish in defeating U18 Umana Reyer Venice 54-74 for fifth place at the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Kaunas. Cameron Hildreth led the way with 21 points, 9 assists and 3 steals while Elijah Walsh and Veron Eze both picked up 17 points for Barking, which was making its second-ever appearance in the ANGT and first since in the 2009-10 season. Davide Casarin and Nicola Berdini paced Reyer with 16 points each in the loss.

Jude Carmichael scored the first 5 points of the game as Barking jumped ahead 0-9. Reyer missed its first 7 shots and committed 4 turnovers before Berdini's three-pointer at the 5:33 minute mark. Hildreth answered that three-pointer and Barking led 11-18 before Casarin’s triple made it 14-18 after 10 minutes. An Alessio Bolpin triple cut the gap to 19-20 only to see Eze score 5 points in a 3-14 surge for a 22-34 advantage. Berdini and Casarin downed triples to get Reyer within 30-36 and the score was 30-38 at the break. Eze knocked down another triple and the cushion was 32-42 before another Casarin three had Reyer within 42-44. Walsh responded with 5 straight points and Barking led 44-50 after 30 minutes. Barking delivered the knockout punch to start the fourth quarter with a 0-10 run to move ahead 44-60. Walsh added 4 more points as the Barking lead grew to 46-66 and the game was decided.
