U18 Baloncesto Seville defeated U18 Union Olimpija Ljubljana 52-83 to clinch seventh place at the Euroleague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Qualifying Tournament – Torneig de Bàsquet Junior Ciutat de L'Hospitalet. Alejandro Rodriguez collected 18 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks as Seville picked up its first victory of the tournament. Leo Cizmic added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals while Pedro Martin had 11 points and both Alejandro Fierro and Eduardo Lada scored 10 points. Olimpija finished eighth as it was out-rebounded 50-26. Gaber Ozegovic paced Olimpija with 9 points while David Kralj had 8 points in the loss.

Cizmic opened the game with a three-pointer for Seville with Ozegovic scoring at the other end for Olimpija. Lada made it 2-6 before a three-ball from Jan Strmcnick got Olimpija to within 5-6. Lada and Giorgi Tvalabeishvili combined for 8 points in a 2-10 surge for a 7-16 lead. Two Ozegovic baskets and three-ball from Matevz Mlakar trimmed it to 14-18, which was the score after 10 minutes. Rodriguez tallied 4 points as Seville started the second quarter with an 0-7 run to extend the gap to 14-25. Matic Vesel finally got Olimpija on the board in the second quarter with a three-pointer with 5:21 minutes to play in the half. But Seville continued to roll with 5 straight points for a 17-30 advantage. Olimpija tried to get back into the game with the next 5 points to trim the deficit to 22-32. But Seville was up 22-35 at intermission.

Seville came out of the locker room strong with the first 6 points to increase the lead to 22-41. Jurcek answered with the next 4 points but Olimpija went scoreless for the next 6 minutes and Seville raced away with an 0-16 run to lead 29-59. Stefan Tovilovic ended the drought with a three-pointer but the Spanish side pushed the lead out to 32-65. It was 34-65 after 30 minutes. The game was already decided but Kralj knocked down two three-pointers for Olimpija only to have Martin match them both times. Nik Dragan’s basket got the margin down to 30 points with 4 minutes left and that’s as close as Olimpija would get while Seville extended the advantage to 34 points.
