Paris held off Cimberio Varese 77-65 on Tuesday, keeping alive its chances of advancing. Win improves Paris to 2-5 in the fifth place of Group C, while Cimberio drops to 1-6 and is all but mathematically eliminated. Paris pulled away to a double-digit lead in the second quarter, and led by as many as 14 points in the third, before the visitors rallied and cut it to 68-65. However, Jawad Williams and Daniel Ewing put the game out of reach. Paris had six scorers in double figures, as Andrew Albicy finished with 15 points, Williams had 14 points plus 8 rebounds, while Maleye Ndoye netted 13. Keydren Clark netted 6 triples for 18 points, leading the visitors. Achille Polonara had 15 points, and Ebi Ere collected 13 points and 8 rebounds in defeat.
The hosts allowed only one field goal in almost 8 minutes at the start of the game, opening 10-3 lead with a triple from Albicy and couple of buckets from Ndoye. Before the end of the quarter, Clark and Polonara sunk triple, cutting it to 14-11. But Paris put together a 12-1 spurt at the start of the second, as Ewing and Williams each scored 5 points, helping the hosts to 26-12. Marko Scekic ended the visitors drought with a triple, before Adrian Banks scored twice and Clark nailed a three-pointer, but Ndoye scored back-to-back from downtown for 35-22 halftime lead. Triples from Clark and Polonra at the start of the third quarter cut it to 37-30, but the hosts answered with a 7-0 run in which Elton Brown scored 5 points. Williams had a basket-plus-foul, abd Ndoye sunk his third three-pointer, but on the other end Clark hit couple more triples, Polonara made a fasbreak layup and Ere had a dunk for the visitors, cutting it to 56-49. Albicy scored a layup at the very end of the third quarter, and Nicolas Lang a triple after 60 seconds in the fourth for 61-51, but Ere and Polonara each hit from close range and long range before the sixth triple from Clark helped cut it to 68-65. However, Williams made a put-back, and Ewing sunk a triple to extend it to 73-65, putting the game out of reach.
