Beghelli Bologna showed indications of recovery by rolling Dynamo Moscow 81-62 in Paladozza, Italy, on Tuesday night. Fortitudo’s second straight ULEB Cup win lifts head coach Andrea Mazzon’s side into a three-way tie for third place in the group F with a 3-3 record. Dynamo Moscow, meanwhile, continues to share first place with Red Star Belgrade with a 4-2 mark. The visitors started the game better than the hosts, but Beghelli center Dalibor Bagaric and point guard Horace Jenkins put Fortitudo’s brand on the game, building a 15-point lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Jenkins and Bagaric continued to pour it on as Bologna built a 25-point lead, matching the score from its opening night loss to Dynamo. However head coach Svetislav Pesic’s guys found two three-pointers at the end to cut the lead to 19 in the end. Jenkins put on a scoring show with 27 points, while Bagaric and Oscar Torres had 12 each and Stefano Mancinelli 11. Former Fortitudo player Milos Vujanic had 13 points for Moscow, while Antonis Fotsis scored 11 and Niola Prkacin 10.

The teams remained scoreless at the start for nearly three minutes before Prkacin got Dynamo going. Horace Jenkins scored 5 straight points to put Fortitudo in front, but Vujanic and Prkacin restored a 5-9 lead for Moscow. Bagaric’s entry reversed the momentum as Beghelli took the lead and after Mancinelli buzzer-beating triple, led 14-11 after 10 minutes. Sergei Monya and Torres traded triples to open the second quarter, but Bagaric kept dominating as he as he scored, dished and took rebounds. Robertas Javtokas revived Dynamo with a put-back and a dunk while Fotsis brought the guests within 27-22, however Beghelli did not stop its run as Jenkins and Mancinelli caught fire and built an 11-2 run that pu the hosts up 38-24. A triple by Vujanic stopped the drought for Dynamo, but three-point plays by Dante Calabria and Jenkins made it 44-29 at halftime. The guests narrowed the gap at the beginning of the third quarter through Henry Domercant, Fotsis and Vujanic, but Fortitudo used Bagaric and Jenkins to pull away to a 56-38 lead. A three-pointer by Torres made it a 20-point game. Five consecutive free-throws were oxygen for Dynamo, but Torres and Jenkins were too hot to stop and the hosts led 64-44 after 30 minutes. By the fourth quarter, the outcome was clear. A powerful dunk by Mancinelli delighted the crows and Fortitudo didn’t let up until a three-point play by David Lamma and a pair of foul shots by Calabria made it 81-56 with a minute to play. But back-to-back triples by Fotsis and Petr Samoylenko made it lighter for Dynamo.

Head Coaches

MAZZON, ANDREA
Fortitudo Bologna
"We played a very good game. We did what we prepared in practice and for that I have to thank all my players, that are keeping working hard even after losses. I hope this win can open us a long tunnel of light. I am always positive and my desire is to play the same game on Saturday against Benetton, a game that is crucial for us. We had a big contribution from Bagaric and the centers. In my basketball, they have to finish in double-digit, giving us possessions shoulders-to-the-basket in order to free the guards too. Iturbe played a smart game, he was very important on the defensive side and added passing skills that this team needs. I feel the confidence of the team."
PESIC, SVETISLAV
Dynamo Moscow
"Congratulations to Fortitudo. They played a really good game. My feeling was that they were having more confident minute after minute, and Bologna exploited it to play a good game and win. We had strange situations during the game. The first was that some players were in the game but did not participate. The second, it’s about our turnovers. I think we estabilished the all-time record because I had never seen 30 turnovers by a team. Fortitudo has experienced players and played a good basketball. Nymburg won easily in Belgrade? I don’t want to make philosophy about basketball, but everybody can compete now. Basketball is not only Italy or Spain or Greece and the team who plays like a team can win ever game. Enthusiasm makes the difference. If you have it, you can win. If you don’t, you lose".

JENKINS, HORACE
Fortitudo Bologna
"We must say that we always try to give our best. This club has tradition and expectations, but I like this challenge and I want to face it. Sometimes we failed, like against Cantu, but tonight we played a great game. I can’t understand why we have so many ups-and-downs, but tonight we showed we can give a big defensive effort against a good team like Dynamo. Defense is our key, especially in those nights where offense struggles. We are very happy for this win, because we can fight for the second round."
VUJANIC, MILOS
Dynamo Moscow
"It was a difficult situation for us. I think it was the last chance for Fortitudo to fight for the qualification so we expected a tough game. They played very good and deserved the win. We had 30 turnovers and it’s impossible to win if you made these mistakes. On those turnovers, every team could score 30 easy points. I can’t explain our different production between home and road games. I just arrived and I am still learning the system. It's not a problem to play ULEB Cup instead of Euroleague. I wanted more minutes on the floor and I chose Dynamo."
