A showdown between two sides that were in the Euroleague last year, ended with a blowout win for hosts Dynamo Moscow in their return to the ULEB Cup as they got rid of Fortitudo Bologna by 91-66. The guests were there until the last minutes of the first quarter, but a huge Travis Hansen buried 4 of 9 triples to launch Dynamo to the win, as the hosts only had to maintain big leads of 15 points or more in the second half. Hansen led all scorers with 27 points, Henry Domercant blasted 19 and Antonis Fotsis added 11 and 8 rebounds for Dynamo. For the Italian team, Dante Calabria stood out with 16 points behind 3 of 4 triples. Oscar Torres added 15, Stefano Mancinelli had 11 and James Thomas added 10 points and 11 boards.

Henry Domercant opened the score with a three and Robertas Javtokas, who dominated the offensive rebound, and Stefano Mancinelli fired up the score up to 7-6. Oscar Torres and Domercant traded fast baskets as the guests tried to look inside to get more points. But Dynamo tried to move the ball fast in offense and often found easy baskets as Travis Hansen hit the turnaround jumper for 16-12. Javtokas imposed his size in the paint getting fouls of Fortitudo players but missing free throws until Hansen buried a new three and a basket plus foul situation to close the first quarter 22-15. Niksa Prkacin and Dimitriy Khostov launched Dynamo to a 27-15 lead as the hosts managed to obtain easy baskets. However, Bologna didn't give up as James Thomas and Dante Calabria made it 36-29 but Domercant shut the bleeding down with a new three, and Hansen joined him to make it a 42-31 game. It was a delicate situation for Fortitudo as Dynamo kept collecting easy baskets when Domercant stole and slammed for 48-31 in minute 19. However, Dante Calabria came to the rescue with six points of his own to close the first half with a 49-39 Dynamo lead. Davide Lamma and Thomas came like a ray of light on Fortitudo's offense starting the second half, but a 10-2 run capped by Hansen put Dynamo back on track for a 65-48 even though Calabria closed the quarter with a new three for 66-51. Dynamo held Fortitudo scoreless for the first three minutes of the last quarter as the hosts climbed to a 71-51. The guests never stopped trying to come back as Thomas buried a three from the side but the hosts never looked back as they never saw the lead in danger.

Head Coaches

PESIC, SVETISLAV
Dynamo Moscow
"The game was very important for us. We played against one of ULEB Cup’s favorites. We won by more than twenty points. It’s the result of our concentration and our defense. We have to know that the difference between the teams is not so much. It’s only the first game. But for me it’s very important to win the first game of a tournament. 26 steals show our defensive actions."
MAZZON, ANDREA
Fortitudo Bologna
"Even though we made some mistakes we played good at the first half, practically, without two starting players and Dalibor Bagaric as well. It’s difficult to beat such team like Dynamo. We made too many turnovers. Now we will be ready for the next game. To qualify for the next round of ULEB Cup is our target."

Players

DOMERCANT, HENRY
Dynamo Moscow
"I think we as a team played a good game. I think it will help us to make our game better. Everyone of us can play better."
TORRES, OSCAR
Fortitudo Bologna
"We tried to put more energy, but Dynamo used pressing every time. We’ll play better on the second game day."
