Meanwhile, Besiktas is mathematically out of the Last 16 race. Trenton Meacham led the winners with 31 points. Adam Waleskowski added 12 for Goettingen. Michal Ignerski led Besiktas with 20 points. Mire Chatman added 16 while Fedor Likholitov had 15 for the guests. A three-pointer by Mustafa Abi gave Besiktas its last lead, 24-25, early in the second quarter. Goettingen kept running its offense through Meacham , who got some help from Mike Scott and Jermain Raffington to give the hosts a double-digit lead, 45-35, at halftime. Nothing changed after the break, as Meacham led a 8-0 run that allowed Goettingen to seal a historical win.

Ignerksi got Besiktas going with a put-back basket but Meacham allowed Goettingen to get its first lead, 3-2. Bekir Yarangume and Meacham traded triples but a layup by Likholitov put Besiktas back ahead, 6-7. Meacham stayed on fire with a jumper and his second bomb from downtown, good for a 11-7 score. Jason Boone capped a 7-0 Goettingen run with a dunk and a layup by Waleskowski boosted the hosts' lead to 15-8. Ignerski stepped up with back-to-back three-pointers and Likholitov soon added a layup to put Besiktas back ahead, 15-16. Waleskowski and Ignerski traded baskets but free throws by Louis Dale gave Goettingen a 19-18 edge after 10 minutes. AJ Ogilvy scored down low early in the second quarter but a Dwayne Anderson answered from downtown for a 22-20 score. Ignerski kept Besiktas with a jumper and Abi struck from downtown to give the guests a 24-25 edge. Meacham sank consecutibe jumpers in a 8-0 Goettingen run that Scott capped with a dunk to give the hosts some fresh air, 32-25. Likholitov scored again and Cuneyt Erden nailed a three-pointer but Scott and Raffington added his own shot from downtown for a 37-30 score. Meacham made free throws and fed Scott for a layup to break the game open, 42-30. Another triple by Erden and a put-back basket by Likholitov brought Besiktas within 45-35 at halftime.

Meacham struck from downtown immediately after the break while Boone matched Likholitov's layup with free throws for a 50-37 Goettingen lead. Besiktas struggled without Chatman on court but Ignerski took over with another three-pointer. Woleskowski shined with a jumper and a layup that made it a 14-point game, 54-40. Erden fed Ogilvy for an easy basket but Goettingen was all over the place in defense, not allowing Besiktas to play its trademark up-tempo offense. Dale buried a jumper and Meacham added free throws to keep Goettingen out of trouble, 58-43. Chatman and Likholitov shined late in the third quarter but Woleskowski allowed the hosts to keep a 62-48 margin after 30 minutes. Robert Kulawicz nailed a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter. Chatman erased it with a layup-plus-foul and a dunk by Likholitov got Besiktas within 65-53. Michael Meeks scored down low, igniting an 8-0 run in which an unstoppable Meacham had 6 points to seal the outcome, 73-53, with under 6 minutes left. Likholitov and Chatman kept trying but it was already too little, too late for the guests, as the hosts had cruised to a big win and their fans were celebrating that Goettingen will keep fighting for Eurocup glory!

Head Coaches

PATRICK, JOHN
Goettingen
"I am proud of my team. We came back from a very disappointing game 48 hours ago. We did it as a team. The players from the bench really contributed in a big way for us. Especially with Dwayne Anderson dealing with bronchitis. I am very proud of Trent Meacham. He was the general on the floor for us and ran the game very well. As a team we did a good job of making it impossible for Besiktas to double team Trent. We can be happy for 24 hours now and then have to focus on the next games."
BIYIKTAY, BURAK
Besiktas Istanbul
"We started the game really soft. Meacham started well for Goettingen and scored their first 11 points. We couldn’t stop him the whole game. We were a little tired and missed some players. The first thing we want to say however is congratulations to Goettingen. They did a good job. It is their fourth victory and so they advance into the next round. We are eliminated. We are very upset with this. We could not get into the game all game long. We are very sorry we lost."

Players

MEACHAM, TRENTON
Goettingen
"I am proud of our team. It was a totally different game than Tuesday. It was also a very emotional game for us. We made the big shots and the big plays. Again, it was a quick turnaround from what happened on Tuesday again Asvel. It is a big win for us."
ABI, MUSTAFA
Besiktas Istanbul
"It was like a final for us. We played too soft, which we shouldn’t have done. On offense we could not find the right setting or structure. On the other side we did not defend hard enough. We lost this game, so congratulations to Goettingen."
