Another thriller in the Ciutat de L'Hospitalet tournament as DKV Joventut Badalona beat Real Madrid 82-76 in an overtime on Wednesday evening in L'Hospitalet, Spain. With this win Joventut grabbed a 2-0 record in Group A while Real dropped to 1-1. Earlier today Joventut beat Lietuvos Rytas by a single point. Tomorrow in the last games of the group Joventut will take on the hosting team CB L'Hospitalet and with a win will qualify to the title game of the tournament. Real will face Rytas in the second game while both teams already know if the spot in the final is already taken and what each team needs to do to grab it if still available. Albert Homs led Joventut with 25 points and Agusti Sans added 18. Guillermo Hernan-Gomez led Real with a monster 20-20 performance of 23 points and 21 rebounds while Placide Nadjikim added 17 with 8 boards. Real dominated the first half and held a 40-25 lead at the break but saw a stubborn Joventut team fight back, for the second time today, and reach the target just in time once again. Joventut moved as close as one point down mid-way in the closing quarter but saw a dunk by Hernan-Gomez set the score on 67-60 with 3:23 to play. Real entered the last 72 seconds still up 69-60 but then Sans and Homs scored from the arc, Sans added another pair from the foul line just to see Hernan-Gomez miss his second attempt on the other side. Inside the last 17 seconds and down by two points it was Homs who stepped up to send the game to overtime. Nadjikim scored the first points in the extra period but then Joventut replied with a 10-0 run that caught Real off guard and decided the game.
