Head Coaches

PERASOVIC, VELIMIR
Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz
"First of all, I want to thank our fans for their support tonight. They packed the arena again and they helped us get this win. They were a key factor tonight. I think we started playing too cautious, especially on defense. We lost too many possessions on offense, as we did in our last domestic game, and they reached a 15-point advantage too easily. The third quarter was a key one: we were able to cut the margin, tie the game and cap our comeback, taking a slim lead. When we thought we had the game under control, their quality and capability turned the game upside down once again. We were lucky that we could rally and find that big shot to win the game. That makes us secure in second place of the group, which is a great prize for us after a very good Euroleague season."
LASO, PABLO
Real Madrid
"I think we dominated in the first half, thanks to our defense and our good work under the boards. We controlled the rebounds and amassed a good difference, but they were able to cut the margin step by step. In the third period, Mike James's accuracy brought them back, in a very difficult moment, and that turned them on. We were able to stay in the game, we even recovered control of the game, but lost the game on the last shot. That's basketball. It's tough losing like this, but we must win the next game in any case, so there is nothing much left to say."

Players

JAMES, MIKE
Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz
"I think we started a kind of slow. We played at a low pace in the beginning, and that cost us a big disadvantage. We found a push after halftime, played more up-tempo basketball and that brought us into the game again. I felt great in the third quarter. I was a bit lucky, because the first shots went in and that gave me confidence to keep scoring. They opened the rim and it was great."
RODRIGUEZ, SERGIO
Real Madrid
"It was a pivotal game for us, and that's the way we prepared ourselves all week long. We were very focused in the beginning, especially taking into account that we had a slow start in other games. We had a very good first half, but in the end we had bad luck and they got that buzzer three that gave them the win. It's the second time it happens to us in the Top 16, but we are confident for the next game aganst Khimki. It's tough to get another defeat like this, but we think we can make it. There were a lot of details in the last minutes that decided the game. We were unable to execute in the way we would have needed in offense and defense, and in the end that triple closed the game against us. We have a full week ahead of us to prepare for the most important game of the year so far, and we are very confident in ourselves."
