Union Olimpija Ljubljana picked up its first victory of the Nike International Junior Tournament in L’Hospitalet, downing KK Split 84-75. Behind 21 points plus 13 rebounds from Emir Sulejmanovic, Olimpija improves to 1-1 in Group B and keeps alive its chances of advancing to the semifinals. Vasilije Vucetic collected 20 points plus 11 rebounds, and Jules Dang Akodo also scored 20 in victory, while Tomislav Gabric netted 21 and Ivan Jukic scored 19 for Split, which drops to 0-2.

Neither team managed to build a lead bigger than 4 points in the first half. With Dragan Bender's 9 points, Split held 32-34 halftime lead. However, led by Vucetic and Sulejmanovic, Olimpija made a 10-2 run beginning of the third quarter that gave it the lead for good. More baskets from Vucetic and Sulejmanovic took Olimpija to 54-43 margin before triples from Josip Gulam and Gabric helped Split cut the deficit to 60-53 going into the fourth quarter. Gulam’s layup made it 64-63, however, Sulejmanovic replied with a layup and a triple as Olimpija pulled away once again before forcing couple of turnovers in the final minute to seal the deal.
