Kalev finished the regular season with a 3-7 record and registered its first Eurocup road win since the 2007-08 season. Haifa was second in Group G with a 6-4 record. It had sealed its ticket to the Last 32 two weeks ago. Vlad Moldoveanu paced the winners with 19 points. Frank Elegar added 14 and 12 rebounds while Ty Abbott had 10 points for Kalev. Ben Reis led Haifa with 18 points. Ike Ofoegbu had 16 points while Donta Smith added 15, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Kalev had a strong start and led 21-40 midway through the second quarter, keeping a safe lead most of the way. Smith brought Haifa as close as 70-73 with 45 seconds left but free throws by Devin Gibson helped Kalev to win the game.

Elegar and Bamba Fall allowed Kalev to get an early 3-6 lead. Ofoegbu and Dagan Yizvori stepped up for Haifa but a 0-9 run which Abbott capped with a jumper gave the guests a double-digit lead, 8-19. Abbott kept pacing Kalev and Moldoveanu struck from downtown but Reis and Ido Kozikaro brought Haifa a bit closer, 15-23, after 10 minutes. A red hot Moldoveanu buried two more shots from beyond the arc and added a layup-plus-foul to make it a 16-point game, 21-37, midway through the second quarter. A triple by Indrek Kajupank soon gave Kalev its biggest lead, 21-40. Reis and Smith led an 8-2 run but another three-pointer by Moldoveanu restored a 28-45 Kalev lead. A layup by Liraz Ariely fixed the halftime score at 30-45. Smith struck from downtown right after the break. Ofoegbu and Reis soon brought Haifa within single digits, 38-47. Elegar and Abbott stepped up for Kalev to extend the guests' margin to 43-54. Reis, Uri Kokia and David Cubillan tried to change things for Haifa but Moldoveanu kept Kalev way ahead, 54-60, after 30 minutes. Kalev kept Haifa scoreless for 4 minutes and a jumper by Fall restored a 54-65 lead. Kozikaro and Reis brought Haifa as close as 60-65 but a triple by Indrek Kajupank and a layup by Elegar sealed the outcome, 60-70. Haifa managed to get within 70-73 but free throws by Gibson allowed Kalev to cruise to a prestigious road win.

Head Coaches

FRANCO, DANNY
Maccabi Haifa Bazan
"There is no doubt that we didn't concentrate in tonight's game, at least that's how I saw it in the first quarter. We had to give minutes to several players. Ido missed a lot of time today. We wanted to win and it showed in the second half, but I'm glad we knew how to make the switch and change the approach, although it was too late."
VARRAK, ALAR
Kalev Cramo Tallinn
"It was similar to how we played in Tallinn, where we led by 17 and today by 15. In the last game, we did not have two key players and Haifa did not play two major players tonight. We are proud to defeat a team like Haifa at home and stand 1-1 with them."
