Brose Baskets thrashes JDA Dijon in France

Brose Baskets Bamberg improved to 2-2 in Last 32 Group K by thrashing JDA Dijon 56-86 on the road on Wednesday. Bamberg bounced back from its home loss last week and would have the advantage against Dijon - which dropped to 1-3 - if both teams are tied at the end of this phase. Janis Strelnieks and Trevor Mbakwe led the winners with 14 points apiece. Bradley Wanamaker added 10 and 7 assists for Bamberg. Kris Joseph led Dijon with 13 points. Erving Walker added 11 for the hosts. Bamberg led 12-23 after 10 minutes and boosted its margin to 28-46 at halftime. Nothing changed after the break, as Bamberg extended its lead to 46-67 after 30 minutes and cruised to a well-deserved, very convincing road win.

Dalibor Bagaric followed a layup with a dunk to get Bamberg going. Andre Harris struck from downtown but Josh Duncan, Ryan Thompson and a three-point play by Karsten Tadda allowed the guests to get a 5-11 lead. Wanamaker found his first points, Steven Gray and Strelnieks exchanged three-pointers and a jumper by Daniel Theis made it a double-digit game, 8-18. Strelnieks and Mbakwe kept the guests way ahead, 12-23, after 10 minutes. Joseph followed free throws with a three-pointer early in the second quarter. Walker nailed one from downtown and a close basket by Jacques Alingue made it a five-point game, 22-27. Joseph soon brought Dijon closer, 25-29, but it didn't last long. Wanamaker and Elias Harris combined for 9 points in a 1-11 run which broke the game open, 26-40. Harris and a layup by Duncan allowed Bamberg to get a 28-46 lead at halftime. Zach Moss and Joseph tried to change things after the break but Dijon only managed to trade baskets for a while. A three-pointer by Walker got the hosts within 39-53. Dawan Robinson stepped up for Bamberg and got help from Strelnieks and Harris to make it a 20-point game, 44-64. A triple by Strelnieks fixed the score at 46-67 after 30 minutes. Mbakwe shined early in the fourth quarter and by the time Theis gave Bamberg a 53-81 margin, everything was said and done, as the guests had cruised to an impressing road win.

"Bamberg was much better than us everywhere. They had a strong defense and we have to accept that we could not challenge them. We made too many mistakes."
TRINCHIERI, ANDREA
Brose Baskets Bamberg
"We won by more than 5 points, but the job is not finished. This time we played like a team and we controlled the game with our good defense. We are growing since the team is young and showed good maturity."
