PGE Turow registered a critical road win by edging Telenet Ostend 79-80 in Last 32 Group L on Wednesday. Turow improved to 3-1 and had a 2-0 record against Ostend, which dropped to 2-2. Mardy Collins paced the winners with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Damian Kulig added 14 points and 8 rebounds for Turow. John Prince led Ostend with 19 points. Karim Boukichou added 11 while Jared Berggren and Mateusz Ponitka each had 10 for the hosts. Turow led 19-27 after 10 minutes and held on to a 37-43 margin at halftime. Ostend rallied after the break and got a 64-60 edge on a three-pointer by Pierre Antoine Gillet. Ostend led 79-74 in the final minute but Michal Chulinski made free throws, Filip Dylewicz added a jumper, Dusan Djordjevic missed free throws and a jumper by Collins allowed Turow to escape with a critical road win.

Ponitka and Boukichou shined early to give Ostend a 7-2 lead. Collins stepped up for Turow while Kulig followed a layup with a three-pointer to give the guests their first lead, 11-14. Prince tried to change things for Ostend but Dylewicz and Chris Wright kept Turow ahead, 15-18. Free throws by Chylinski soon made it a six-point game, 15-21. Prince hit 4-of-4 free throws but Collins and Vlad Moldoveanu restored a 19-27 Turow edge after 10 minutes. Prince had 4 points in a 6-0 run which brought Ostend as close as 25-27 edge. A layup by Neils Marnegrave soon tied it at 29-29. Kulig rescued Turow with a three-pointer and a jumper which Collins followed with free throws for a 31-36 score. Dylewicz scored down low, Moldoveanu made free throws and a triple by Chylinski made it a nine-point game, 34-43. Djordjevic answered from downtown to fix the halftime score at 37-43. Wright dunked after the break and Collins struck from beyond the arc for a 39-48 Turow margin. Gillet hit a three-pointer, and another one to bring Ostend back to life, 47-52. Collins rescued Turow for 4 quick points but Guy Muya brought the hosts closer and a layup by Ponitka completed Ostend's comeback, 58-57. A dunk by Berggren and another triple by Gillet gave the hosts a 64-60 edge after 30 minutes. Ponitka and Berggren shined early in the fourth quarter but Kulig kept Turow within 68-66. Berggren dunked twice but Collins and Aleksander Czyz made it a one-point game, 72-71. A layup by Prince seemed to seal the outcome, 79-74, already in the final minute, but Chylinski made free throws and an Ostend turnover allowed Dylewicz to bring the guests within 79-78. The guests fouled on Djordjevic, who missed both attempts, and Collins rounded his great game with the go-ahead basket. Muya missed from downtown seconds before the final buzzer.

"We performed very well today against a great team that played in the Euroleague and has been competing on a high level all season. I am proud of my players. I think the turnover of Djordevic at the end was a clear foul, but it was not called and brought Turow back to within 1 point. At the end we of course missed 2 important free throws, but if next game I have to put someone on that spot to decide the game, I would choose the same player who has won a lot of games for us. Maybe we made some mistakes in bad moments, but I am very proud of my guys."

"This was a great game from both teams. There was a great ambiance in the gym. Seven days ago, we played our best game in the last three years. We believed that we could repeat this performance, knowing it would be a lot tougher here. Mentally we were ready. Ostend played a much better game in the second half and their fans gave them good energy. At the end of the game, what happened happened. I cannot say Ostend did not deserve the win, but we also showed lot of character getting back into the game. I want to congratulate both sides."
