Tremell Darden scored 29 points as Spirou Charleroi finished its ULEB Cup campaign with an 85-76 victory at home over Hanzevast Capitals. Darden also had 8 rebounds and 2 assists as Spirou finished at 4-6 in fifth place. Len Matela added 13 points and Jonathan Tabu chipped in 11 for Charleroi. Hanzevast Capitals dropped to 2-8 despite 22 points and 11 rebounds by Guido Grunheid. Alton Mason scored 19 points, Dwayne Archbold had 16 points and 9 rebounds and Kevin Melson chipped in 10 points in a losing effort.

Spirou pulled ahead first on Darden's basket but Grunheid scored twice as Hanzevast went up 2-6. Two more Grunheid baskets and a three-ball by Mason gave the guests a 4-14 advantage early. But Darden tallied 9 more points and Wes Wilkinson hit 5 points as Spirou closed the quarter on a 21-5 run to go up 25-19 after one period. Archbold opened the second for Hanzevast and his second basket in the quarter brought the team to within 27-24. But the lead was back up to 34-24 after Darden drained two more baskets. Spirou pushed the advantage to 47-34 on Tabu's long ball before Pavel Englicky's foul shot made it 49-40 at the break. Darden continued his hot night with the opening score of the second half. And the balanced Charleroi attack withstood a strong showing by Archbold as Darden's basket pushed the lead to 60-47. Three more Darden points had the advantage up to 67-50. And the lead was 69-52 going into the fourth. Archbold's free throw started the final period only to see two Matela baskets help Spirou open a 77-55 gap. The cushion was still 20 points - 83-63 - after Justin Hamilton's score with two minutes left. But Mason scored four points and Grunheid's three-ball made it 83-70 with just over a minute left. But the deficit was just too big.
