The balanced play continued throughout the first quarter but the hosts were playing it safe with no turnovers at all. Zvezda was winning the rebounds battle with a 6-14 in 9 minutes but at the end of the first period, there was a 20-20 balance. The hosts tried to pull away starting the second period through Semen Antonov, but Zvezda started climbing back until Ivan Radenovic's five straight points put the guests ahead again, 33-34. The scoring run of Zvezda went up to 0-14 until Antonov broke it with free throws. At the halftime break, Zvezda was dominating only by 40-42 as Babbitt closed the half with a new three, his fourth. Antonov opened the second half in style with a faraway three for 43-42, sparking an 11-2 run for Nizhny Novgorod. Nelson stopped the bleeding for Zvezda, but the hosts had momentum now with a 51-44. Tadija Dragicevic came to the rescue, lifting Zvezda to a 57-52 disadvantage with still plenty of time to go and stopping the hosts' streak. A 5-0 burst for Nizhny Novgorod was only stopped by Marko Simonovic's bucket to make it 62-56 after 30 minutes. A Dijon Thompson basket in the first minutes of the last period launched the hosts to a 71-60 double-digit lead. The clock advanced and it looked like Nizhny Novgorod was in control. Radenovic's free throws could not compete with Antonov's threes as the scoreboard displayed a 78-65 with 4 minutes to go. In the last moments, the hosts maintained the difference and in the last second Thompson scored an acrobatic basket for the final 86-75 and two points that could prove valuable at the ens of the Last 32.

Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade
"Nizhny Novgorod showed great quality. IT is an excellent team, well composed with great individuals. We knew we will have a tough match in front of us, and it happened. The hosts played very well, their big men gave us lots of trouble with their outside shot, and they had high percentage for three-pointers. Our defense was not at the level we hoped it would be. We hoped to be able to raise aggressiveness after the halftime, but it did not happen. I congratulate Nizhny on deserved victory."
