FIATC Joventut advanced on Saturday to the Sunday semifinal by beating Union Olimpija Ljubljana, 77-88, at the Nike International Junior Tournament in L'Hospitalet. For the winners Jose Nogues led the way with 25 points, Marc Bauza added 16, Agusti Sans 13 and Gerard Gomila 11. For Union Olimpija, Luka Kokol led the way with 16 points, Jules Dang Akodo had 14, Vasilije Vucetic 11, Aleksandar Lazic had 10 and Emir Suñlejmanovic had 10 and 10 boards.

The first quarter was as close as they come since no team managed to build a lead larger than the 5 points Joventut had with the 4-9. After 10 minutes, the score was 16-17 for Penya. Things changes a little in the second quarter. In the second half of the period, point by point, Joventut managed to keep increasing the lead thanks to the low number of turnovers. At the halftime break it was 38-46 for the Catalans. Jose Nogues was being the main man for Joventut as in the third period he kept scoring to put his team into double-digit distance. Aleksandar Lazic tried to keep Olimpija alive from the arc but Marc Bauza closed the third quarter with a layup for a 57-73 Joventut lead. In the final period, Joventut only had to manage the double-digit lead to advance at ease to the Sunday semifinals, which will be against FC Barcelona Regal.
