Snaidero Udine has won its second consecutive ULEB Cup game, this one on the road against Telekom Baskets Bonn, 76-84, to join the leaders of Group A with a 2-1 record. Udine took over a tight game that was tied at halftime with a decisive run that bridged the final two quarters. One of the leaders of that run, Damir Mulaomerovic, scored 24 points to pace the winners. Michele Mian and Demetrius Alexander both bagged 13 and center Jeff Stern 10. Bonn paid for poor shooting percentage and the foul problems of Terrence Rencher. The scoring leader of the game has been Aleksnader Nadifeji of Bonn, netting 25 points, while Brian Brown added 11, Rencher and Aleksander Radojevic 10 each for the Germans, whose record fell to 1-2.

The game started with poor shooting on both sides, then Bonn started to play aggressive defense and got the ball inside to Radojevic for 8 points in the first period. That totalled a 12-2 run and an 18-9 lead capped by Rencher with a three-pointer. After Bonn gained its biggest advantage, 20-10, Snaidero began to play better, with a three-pointer by Michele Mian and a steal and layup by Mulaomerovic to end the first period 24-17. Young forward Joel Zacchetti opened the second period shooting from long distance for Udine, and Stern put back an offensive board to reduce Bonn's lead to 24-22. From then on, Bonn mantained leads of less than 5 points, but Zacchetti and Mian, who was up to 3 three-pointers, kept the vistors close at 34-32, with 2:30 to go. Snaidero finally tied it 37-37 with a free throw by Paul Burke, which is how the half ended. Mian was leading the visitors with 9 points, while Nadifeji and Radojevic had 8 each for Bonn.

Alexander lifted Udine into the lead, 37-39, right after halftime, and it grew to 39-44 on a jumper by Mian. Mulaomerovic was on fire, too, scoring 8 points, but that only managed to keep Udine ahead slightly. Rencher, meanwhile, went to the bench for Bonn with his fourth foul, which Alexander took advantage of by scoring 7 straight points to boost Udine ahead 50-56. Two free throws by Brown and a mid-range jumper of Alexander Vujacic left the visitors in front 52-58 after 30 minutes.

The last period began with Snaidero enlarging its advantage to 52-62 on quick baskets by Stern and Alexander. The key of the game now became the defense of the Italians which prevented Bonn from finding baskets to come back. The advantage grew up till 55-64 on a Vujacic layup. Bonn tried to pressure more on defense, but Snaidero, still without victories in the Italian League, managed to control the game till the final buzzer.

Head Coaches

KRUNIC, PREDRAG
Telekom Bonn
"We had a good start but lost our concentration during the game. We have to work on our team-defense. Congratulations to Udine. They were the better this evening."
FRATES, FABRIZIO
Snaidero Udine
"We didn't start in the right way. We had problems with defense, especially with rebounds, and then we had some foul trouble. But we turned to play the right way. We had four players with double figures."

Players

RENCHER, TERRENCE
Telekom Bonn
"I am very disappointed, because we can play so much better. Right now, we have problems with our defense and when you have bad luck in the offense you lose against such good teams like Udine. I am sorry for our great fans."
ALEXANDER, DEMETRIUS
Snaidero Udine
"We started in a bad and too slow way. We had some ups and downs during the game but finally we found a way to play successfully. I am happy with this game in the end."
