The 2015 continental champion U18 Real Madrid tipped off its ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Munich by rolling past U18 ALBA Berlin 98-56 in Group B. Mario Nakic paced five Madrid players in double figures with 17 points while also collecting 4 assists. Amar Sylla added 14 points and 11 rebounds and Usman Garuba chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists for Madrid, which has now won 20 straight ANGT qualifying games dating back to the final of the 2013 ANGT L’Hospitalet. ALBA was dominated on the boards as Madrid grabbed 52 rebounds to 25 for ALBA. Hendrik Drescher and Jonas Mattisseck both scored 15 for the German side.

Nakic and Sylla both picked up 4 quick points in helping Madrid open a 12-4 lead. Abdulah Kameric did hit a three-pointer and Lorenz Brenneke converted a three-point play to get ALBA within 17-14. But Sylla added 4 more points in an 8-0 Madrid finish to the first quarter for a 25-14 lead. A Mattisseck three-pointer trimmed the gap to 26-21. But Garuba tallied 5 points in a 16-2 Madrid surge for a 42-23 margin, which was 48-31 at halftime.

Madrid continued to pressure ALBA and Nakic keyed a 9-0 spurt to make it 59-34. And then Melwin Pantzar, Diego De Blas and Ziga Samar all nailed three-pointers in a Madrid 13-2 run to close the third quarter with a 76-43 advantage. Madrid never let up in the final stanza and rolled on with Golden Dike scoring all 10 of his points in the quarter.
