Preston Shumpert and Rick Apodaca both scored 24 points as Besiktas ColaTurka advanced to the ULEB Cup Final Eight with a convincing 81-69 victory over Red Star in the Last 16 return leg. Coming into the game with the winner moving on to a Final Eight match-up against either Kalise Gran Canaria or Galatasaray, Besiktas held the Red Star superstar duo of Tadija Dragicevic and Omar Cook to just 16 points as it won the two-leg series 161-149 on aggregate. Christian Dalmau added 9 points and 5 assists and Predrag Drobnjak chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Dragicevic and Cook both finished with 8 points after combining for just 4 points on 1-of-11 shooting in the first half. All told, the duo made just 5-of-21 from the field. Elmedin Kikanovic led the Red Star attack with 17 points while Miroslav Raicevic added 10 points. Red Star shot itself in the foot at the free throw line, making just 9-of-19 (47%).

Apodaca opened the game for Bestiktas and Sinan Guler and Dalmau scored to make it 6-0 early. Raicevic's three-pointer was Red Star's first basket and Mirko Kovac trimmed the margin to 9-7. Kaya Peker's score pushed the lead to 15-10 before Kovac knocked down a three-ball for the visitors. Marko Cvetkovic kept Red Star within 18-16 but Apodaca tallied 4 points in a 6-0 spurt as Besiktas led 24-18 after one period. Cvetkovic began the second quarter but Drobnjak answered and then Shumpert scored 5 straight points as Besiktas grabbed its first double-digit lead – 31-20. Kikanovic did all he could to keep Red Star in the game with three baskets – the third a three-point play – but Besiktas still led 37-29. Shumpert's foul shots made it 41-29 before Dragicevic knocked down his first basket of the game – a three-pointer – with two minutes left in the first half. The hosts led 41-34 at halftime

Shumpert scored back-to-back baskets – including a three – to begin a 10-1 surge at the start of the second half for a 51-35 lead. Cook then converted a layup for his first basket of the game. Two Sandro Nicevic baskets and an Apodaca layup made it 59-40 before Mladjen Sljvancanin knocked down a triple. The guests continued to miss from outside trying to get back into the game and Besiktas made 4 foul shots to push the advantage to 20 points. Dragicevic knocked down a second three and another basket as Red Star trimmed the deficit to 65-50 after three periods. Cook's free throw opened the fourth and Kikanovic scored three baskets, leaving Red Star down just 65-58 as Besiktas failed to converted on its first eight possessions of the quarter. But Shumpert hit a jumper and Apodaca made a layup to re-establish a 69-58 advantage with four minutes left. Shumpert sandwiched baskets around a Apodaca layup as the hosts remained too strong for Red Star, leading 77-62 with just over a minute left. The final minute saw Dalmau limp off the court with a right knee injury, but for now he and Besiktas can celebrate the big win.

Besiktas Cola Turka
"First of all, I have to mention that we had a great atmosphere in Akatlar Arena this evening and have the excellent support of our great fans. We cannot only take this game as a result. This is just the last piece of our 14-game season. And by ending 12 of those 14 matches with victory, we proved ourselves as one of the candidates for the title. I want to congratulate my team for their great effort once again. They really challenged perfectly. They had more desire than any other team we played to get to the Final Eight. I hope we do a better job in Torino of representing Turkish basketball as good as we can."
KARADZIC, STEVAN
Red Star
"In this moment, Besiktas was a better team. We were suffering from injuries and left two of our players in Belgrade. In the first quarter we had problems in offensive rebounds. After that, Besiktas lead by 10 points. At the beginning of the second half, we played zone defense as good as we can. But Besiktas got 3 or 4 offensive rebounds, which helped them to extend the lead to more than 15 points and that was the end of the game for us. I want to congratulate Besiktas for their win and wish them good luck in the Final Eight in Torino."

"It was a historical match for us. In this kind of great atmosphere, there cannot be a better result than winning. It was a hard game, but our fans made it easier for us. We are really happy to see our fans behind us and thank them for their great support during the whole game. We will try to represent our country and our club, Besiktas ColaTurka, as good as we can in Torino."
SLJIVANCANIN, MLADJEN
Red Star
"It was a hard game. We played in their court and the gym was full and the fans were very loud. We tried to do our best in this atmosphere. At halftime we were 7 points behind and came back once again in the last quarter to 7 points. But that was it. We couldn't go further. There was a lot of pressure on referees and players here. We are all satisfied because we came this far. We hoped we could do more, but this is what it is."
