Lietuvos Rytas celebated a great finish to the 33rd Ciutat de L'Hospitalet tournament with a 72-68 victory over FC Barcelona Regal to win the competition and take the top spot on the podium on Friday evening in L'Hospitalet, Spain. This is the second time in the history of the tournament L. Rytas are crowned as the champion team. Barca failed to become the sixth team to win the tournament back-to-back and after lifting the trophy in 2011 finished with the silver medals in 2012. Augustinas Jankaitis led the champs with 21 points and also won the MVP award. He was followed by point guard Tomas Galeckas in a great performance of 16 points while Tautvydas Jodelis had 12 points and Denis Krestinin scored only four points yet grabbed no less than 16 boards. Barcelona saw Alexandr Zhigulin and Ludde Hakanson score 15 points each, Adria Cantenys added 13 and Josep Perez finished with 12. L. Rytas took over the floor right from the start and reached a maximum gap of 24 points at the bottom of the first half. Barcelona wrote a huge come back in the second half and chopped the margin piece by piece until standing just three points behind with 70 seconds to play, yet L. Rytas didn't blink and managed to hold on to the victory and the title.

Barcelona was the first to go on the board with a three pointer by Zhigulin but L. Rytas reacted quickly, scored the next 10 points and never let the lead slip. A time out by Barca's bench didn't stop the momentum as Jankaitis kept scoring around the rim and helped his team create a 22-7 lead after 10 minutes. First to score in the second period was once again Barca with quick four points but then Edvinas Seskus took over and with the help of Galeckas and the long range shots of Jodelis ran 19-7. Another great three pointer by Jodelis set the maximum gap of the night on 47-23 yet a corner three pointer by Barcelona closed the lid on the first half and hinted on the soon future. A new and much more active Barcelona came back to the second half. Hakanson who scored only three points in the first half stepped up and together with five in a row by Cantenys made it 59-48 at the end of the third quarter. Three hits in a row from the arc by Cantenys and Hakanson helped Barca make it just a five point game with 3:29 to play, and a lay-up by Cantenys set the score on 66-63 with 1:10 on the game clock yet Galeckas scored six points in a row for his side which held Barca from completing a huge come back, and crowed L. Rytas for the second time ever at the Ciudad de L'Hospitalet tournament.
