Derrick Brown added 14 points while Richard Hendrix had 10 for Lokomotiv. Maris Gulbis led Ventspils with 13 points. Mire Chatman dished 8 assists for the guests. Brown, Randolph and Hendrix allowed Lokomotiv to get a 22-17 lead after 10 minutes. A layup by Nikita Kurbanov soon made it a nine-point game, 34-25, enough for the hosts to keep a 39-32 edge at halftime. Lokomotiv led 50-45 late in the third quarter but a 0-12 run which Troy Barnies capped with a layup gave Ventspils a 51-57 edge with over 8 minutes left. Lokomotiv made the guests go scoreless for the next 5 minutes, as Aaron Miles, Randolph and Brown fueled a final 21-3 run which made the hosts win the game.

Barnies got Ventspils going with free throws but back-to-back triples by Brown and Randolph ignited a 10-0 run which made the guests call timeout at 10-2. Harvey Grant and Artis Ate stepped up for Ventspils, leading a 0-9 run which put their back ahead, 12-13. Lokomotiv improved its defense off a timeout while Evgeny Voronov and Hendrix gave the hosts a 18-13 edge. Gulbis and Martins Meiers tried to change things for the guests but a dunk by Hendrix fixed the score at 22-17 after 10 minutes. Akselis Vairogs hit a triple early in the second quarter but Krunoslav Simon led a 7-0 run that boosted Lokomotiv's lead to 29-20. Gulbis and Grant kept pacing Ventspils but a layup by Kurbanov made the guests call timeout at 34-25. Chatman and Davis Lejasmeiers brought Ventspils a bit closer, 39-32, at halftime. Randolph and Miles made Lokomotiv restore a double-digit lead, 43-32, right after the break. Chatman and Gulbis struck from downtown, however, and a layup by Meiers soon forced the hosts tp call timeout at 45-42. Brown made free throws and a layup by Simon gave Lokomotiv fresh air at 49-45. Chatman and Grant brought Ventspils even closer, 51-50, after 30 minutes. A three-pointer by Gulbis completed the guests' comeback, 51-53. A layup by Barnies capped a 0-12 run for a 51-57 Ventspils lead. It didn't last long, however, as Lokomotiv made Ventspils go scoreless in the next 5 minutes. Meanwhile, Miles and Randolph led a 13-0 run which sealed the outcome, 64-57. Brown and Hendrix took over in the final 3 minutes to led Lokomotiv to a hard-fought home win.

Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar
"There’s a small step between arrogance and lack of confidence. In our previous game against Astana we were arrogant and we paid for that. Then we kind of got over it during team meeting, but as soon as Ventspils today started to hit shots we backed down. I’m glad that we reacted in the right way and got ourselves into the game with our defense. I think Aaron Miles and Evgeny Voronov turned the game around with their energy. To win a game like this is very good for the growth of our team. Now we have some time to analyze what’s working and what needs to be worked on."
STELMAHERS, ROBERTS
Ventspils
"We knew that the team is strong, but we also knew they know how to lose. Lokomotiv has great players who love to play offense, but not always defense. Our plan was to eliminate the fast break threat and we did exactly that until the end of the game. One can say we’re a young team, but I know we could’ve played smarter down the stretch. We just stopped doing what we did right. We didn’t foul when we needed to foul. It’s stupid to think a player like Richard Hendrix won’t make a shot when you guard him just by raising your hands. Keeping our composure in close games is what we need to work on. It’s obvious for me we could’ve won this game. "

Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar
"I think it was a good game. We showed a lot of heart and toughness down the stretch, as a team we have to figure out how to win ugly games like this. And that’s what we did today. Sometimes after losses, like we had in Astana the game before, there could be a little slump. We rebounded poorly against Astana and we had to bounce back. To see how you react when you down is the most important thing. "
GULBIS, MARIS
Ventspils
"We knew who we going to play against and came here with a plan. And we were following that plan successfully for 33 minutes. But for the last 7 minutes we just crumbled, started to play individually and against teams like Lokomotiv it’s suicide. "
