Pamesa Valencia made its debut in the ULEB Cup with an amazing performance, routing visitor Roseto BasketTown of Italy 98-62 based on an efficient offense inside the three-point line. Pamesa made an excellent 24 of 54 two-point shots (63%) on the night while living up to its position as one of the ULEB Cup favorites. After taking a big advantage late in the first half, Pamesa controlled the game and lengthened the lead even while using its bench players for long stretches. Pamesa put five scorers in double figures led by Alessandro Abbio and Pedro Robles with 15 points each. Bernard Hopkins added 14, Jose Antonio Paraiso and Nacho Rodilla 10 each. Roseto forward Diego Fajardo led all scorers with 17 points, while center Benjamin Davis contributed 10. Pamesa starts out Group B with a 1-0 mark while Roseto is at 0-1.

In the first minutes of the game, Pamesa immediately showed itself to be a team that can think of fighting for the ULEB Cup title this season. It started with a tough defense that produced Roseto misses and permitted the hosts them to run fastbreaks in the open court with the rebounds. Pamesa had 70% two-point shooting rate at the end of the first half and was also dominating under the boards 14-9. The first period finished with 21-12 advantage that rose in the second quarter as high as 51-35. Roseto Basket Town, in its historical debut in Europe, was suffering the long experience of the Spaniards, not to mention feeling the emotion of being on the road again a strong team with a big crowd. By halftime, Hopkins had 14 points and had only missed 1 of 8 shots while the Finnish guard Teemu Rannikko had netted 9, all on three-pointers, for the Italian squad.

The game after the break did not change because the hosts wouldn't let it. Pamesa stayed after the victory in the third and fourth period by enlarging its advantage minute by minute to a 77-48 after 34 minutes. The advantage grew up again in the last minutes with Pamesa triumphing and Roseto paying the price for visiting a powerhouse in the first European game of its history.

Head Coaches

OLMOS, FRANCISCO
Pamesa Valencia
"We had some doubts about our level for this game, but we played with great intensity and good basketball from the defense and we read our offensive game very well. I think that Roseto is a good team, but tonight we played very well and they didn't look like the good team that they really are. We still should play with a lot of intensity if we want to become a good team in this competition."
MELILLO, PHILIP
Eurocellulari Roseto
"I apologize in front of the people, because our team played really bad. We played last Sunday against Virtus and today against a really strong team wich is Pamesa Valencia, and we do not usually play against two strong teams in such a short period of time. We need to improve for playing the ULEB Cup at high level. I think that we will do it in the future."

Players

TOMASEVIC, DEJAN
Pamesa Valencia
"It is important to start the competition with a victory, mostly after losing in our prevuous Spanish League game. If we want to win this competition we should play every game at 100%."
MOLTEDO, JUAN
Eurocellulari Roseto
"Pamesa played better than us, because we played very bad on offense and defense".
