After the most amazing comeback so far in the Siauliai Nike International Junior Tournament, VEF Riga fell short in the last shots and Topsportschool Leuven eventually took a 86-84 win in Group A, and managed to stay in the race for the final game spot depriving VEF of direct qualification. It will all now fall on the final result of the last Group A game between Lietuvos Rytas and KK Cibona. Topsportschool was leading by a clear 73-53 after a great three first quarters, but an amazing 11-31 scoring run put VEF Riga tied at 84-84 with 56 seconds to go. Hans Vanwijn took an offensive rebound and put the ball back in the rim for 86-84. In the last play of the game, Kristaps Plavnieks missed the three that meant the win for VEF Riga, and Davis Geks missed twice more after offensive rebounds as the final buzzer crushed VEF's dreams.

Vincent Kesteloot led the winners with his 26 points, Vanwijn added 14 plus 13 rebounds and Glen Camps posted 11. For VEF Riga, Plavnieks had 25 points, Anzejs Pasecniks added 19, Geks had 12 and Ervins Meznieks nailed 11. VEF Riga kept the turnovers at minimum with 7 and Topsportschool's 21 were big part in the Latvians comeback.
