Behind just the second triple-double in ULEB Cup history, Telindus Oostende got in the Group F win column by defeating former champion Dynamo Moscow 89-83 on Tuesday at home in Belgium. Both teams are now 1-1 and looking up at sole group leader Red Star. Oostende took over the game by winning the middle quarters 49-32 and then hung on for dear life as Dynamo cut the difference from 19 points to 3 in the final quarter. Oostende's balanced scoring won the day, as Jerry Green led five double-digit scorers with 19 points. Chris McCray added 18, Sam Van Rossom 13, Elvir Ovcina 12 and Chuck Davis 11. Ovcina also registered the first triple-double in a non-overtime ULEB Cup game by adding 11 rebounds and 10 assists. All-time ULEB Cup leading scorer Todor Stoykov of Lukoil Academic had the competition's first triple-double in a triple-overtime game in the 2003-04 season. Dynamo, by contrast, relied on two scorers, Travis Hansen with 27 points and Henry Domercant with 25.

Early back-to-back triples by Domercant got Dynamo its first lead and signalled a close first quarter as the lead went back and forth almost by the minute. It ended with Fotsis and Elvir Ovcina answering each other from the arc for a 21-21 tie. Oostende sub Chris McCray scored 9 points while sending the hosts up 37-33 midway through the second quarter. Domercant and Niksa Prkacin got Dynamo within a basket of the lead twice, but Jerry Green's basket kept Oostende in charge, 43-39, at halftime. Oostende got the better of a free throw competition to start the second half, and by the time Ovcina scored the first basket and Green followed with a triple, the hosts had the game's first double-digit lead, 52-40. Dynamo was stuck on free throws for 5 minutes until Domercant's triple made it 56-46, but Jerry Green matched it on the next shot as Oostende slammed the door on any comeback ideas yet. The lead ballooned to 63-46 as Titus Ivory joined the three-point fun and didn't stop until Oostende had a whopping 70-53 edge after three quarters. The difference topped out at 74-55 before Dynamo made a little 4-12 run Travis Hansen hitting some points. That run became a rally as Oostende went cold and Hansen and Domercant buried back-to-back triples to make it 83-80 in the next-to-last minute. Oostende couldn't breathe easily again until Green's two-pointer made it 86-81 and its defense did the rest on the way to a first ULEB Cup win this season.

Head Coaches

DRUCKER, SHARON
Telindus Oostende
"We deserve the game. We knew what we wanted to do. Usually, you would think that in this kind of game, you need to play slow and bring down the tempo. We said the opposite. We played a high tempo and controlled the rebound. Our guys did great things and even special things, especially their determination in steals and rebounds. In the last quarter, we were tired mentally and physically. We started to play with the time and that was a mistake. You need to keep running and punishing. We took the game, and now we have to keep going, one game at a time. We believed in ourselves and we did it. Like I said, we deserved the win."
PESIC, SVETISLAV
Dynamo Moscow
"It's a new story. We knew we were playing against a motivated team. From the first minute, they played not only with motivation but also with style on offense and defense. They got confident and, as happens a lot, by the time we got back into the game, it was too late. Except in the last minutes, they played a good game. They grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and got 15 steals, which proves a lot for them. It is a pity we did not play our good game as we did against CSKA. Basketball is not mathematics. We must go into every game with the same attitude."

Players

McCRAY, CHRIS
Telindus Oostende
"We played with a lot of energy tonight. We have our qualities and work hard every day. In recent games, we did not pull away, but tonight we fought hard. We had a great crowd and some key players had a good game. We had fun playing and that's important."
HANSEN, TRAVIS
Dynamo Moscow
"We came out bad tonight. They nkew they where playing a good team and, especially after we beat CSKA this weekend, every team would like to win against us. They had more energy and played better. We have some new players and will still have our ups and downs, but we have big goals."
