Dexia Mons-Hainaut managed to pull the first win of the season on Tuesday night thanks to a 66-53 home win over KK Buducnost Voli. Buducnost started winning in the first plays but Mons reacted fast and was holding a double-digit lead at the break that did nothing but increase in the second half. The win allows Mons to improve to 1-2 in the Group H standings to tie with PGE Turow and Buducnost. Alba is the only undefeated team in the group. Warren Carter led the winners with his 15 points and Ahmad Nivins added 12. For the guests, Nikola Vucevicled the way with 18 points.

Despite a 0-4 start by Buducnost in the first plays, Dexia Mons reacted fast enough. Its own 6-0 allowed the hosts to jump ahead even though Nikola Vucevic was active in offense for the guests, trying to keep things close. Ahmad Nivins scored four in a row to keep the hosts ahead and then AJ Slaugher sealed thefirat quarter work with points from the line to make it 16-13 after 10 minutes. Good free throw shooting in the first plays of the second quarter allowed Buducnost to tie the game, 17-17, but Mons came back with a 6-0 burst capped by Alexandre Libert's free throw. Vucevic was still the man for Buducnost but Dexia Mons managed to build a sweet cushion for the last minutes of the quarter to reach the halftime break, 33-23, after Amaury Gorgemans' slam.

Warren Carter exploded in the first plays of the third period with fiv epoints of his own to keep Mons 10 points ahead, 38-28, but Cedomir Vitkovac made sure that Buducnost stayed in the game long enough. However, a mini run of Mons capped by Libert's three, made it a 16-point game, 46-30, in minute 28. Vitkovac had more free throws for the guests but after 30 minutes, Mons was dominating, 48-34. The dominance of the hosts stayed in the fourth period as Mons never saw its lead threatened. Bojan Dubljevic and Milosevic were active for Buducnost but Mons was far ahead as Shan Foster hit a three for the 53-34. With the game broken open, there was little that Buducnost could do as Mons fans celebrated the first win of their team this season. The next assault will see both teams face each other again next week in Podgorica.

"We deserve our victory against a very good team which was very strong and played very hard during all the game. I told my guys that if they wanted to continue the adventure in the group, it was necessary to win at home after two defeats, at home against Berlin and away in Turow. I have a lot of experience in basket ball and I knew it would be difficult to stop Buducnost, because this team has very good big player. It was necessary to lock up our defense again, and my players didn't desobey the orders. Both teams played at a high level and I think that now our confidence is back after a period of doubt in the domestic league and also in the Eurocup. Now, everything is possible because Alba Berlin seems to be unapproachable after having beaten Turow, but we continue to have our fate in our hands."
RADONJIC, DEJAN
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"First, I want to congratulate the team of Dexia, which deserves its victory and played a very good game. We came to Belgium for the win, but without a couple of players, and a lot of energy to consume during all the game. We made a good effort on defense, but we missed too many chances inside and also at the three-point line. Moreover, we were not concentrated enough offensively, which explains how we lost. Now, I hope that Vucevic will continue to play during the remaining games. He scored 18 points, picked rebounds and made blocks, but it wasn't enough."

"We played very good defense during 40 minutes. I think it was the key of the game tonight, because we knew that our opponents never give up when they are under pressure. It was important to keep our lead in the fourth quarter, because we knew that the difference could be important in three weeks, but I'm sure we can do something great anyway!"
VITKOVAC, CEDOMIR
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"We expected a tough game, and really, it was one. But as we were not good offensively, particulary in the selection of shots, that made the difference. With 16 turnovers, it's difficult to win and it's a shame that we were unable to answer our opponents on offense. Now, we must concentrate on the next games, because we're playing twice at home and that can make the difference at the end."
