Besiktas Integral Forex Istanbul collected its first victory of the 2013-14 Eurocup season by winning 72-70 on the road against Neptunas. Chris Lofton nailed a game-winning three-pointer with two seconds to play for Besiktas, which improved to 1-1 in Group H play. Bradley Buckman collected 23 points and 13 rebounds while Lofton scored 14 points and Colton Iverson and Doron Perkins both tallied 11 points for the winners. Martynas Mazeika paced Neptunas with 17 points while Valdas Vasylius scored 16 points, Mindaugas Girdziunas hit for 10 points and Arvydas Eitutavicius collected four points, six rebounds and seven assists. Girdziunas completed a three-point play with nine seconds left to give Neptunas the lead 70-69 but Lofton’s game-winner dropped the host side to 0-2 in the group.

Besiktas jumped out to a 0-5 lead which Neptunas closed to 6-7. Buckman started strong for the guests with nine points and Iverson had six points as Besiktas pushed the lead to 10-22. Mazeika closed the quarter with two baskets to make it 16-22. Ryan Broekhoff and Lofton knocked down triples as the Besiktas cushion grew to 21-30. Andrew Smith got his first two scores of the game to bring it to 27-32 before Vasylius and Edgards Ulanovas nailed long balls to pull within 35-37. But Broekhoff completed a three-point play and hit a triple to give Besiktas a 37-45 advantage at the break. Mazeika scored the first five points of the second half and Eitutavicius trimmed the margin to 46-47 only to see Lofton and Buckman nail back-to-back long-balls as Besiktas stormed back up 46-53. Nepuntas used strong free throw shooting to get it back to 53-55 but Besiktas was up 55-59 after three quarters. Perkins opened the fourth period with a basket but was answered by a Vasylius trey and four more points to get the hosts within 62-63. Buckman’s three-ball was matched by Girdziunas and after Iverson split two foul shots, Mazeika hit twice from the charity stripe to even the game at 67-67. Buckman made two from the line with 19 seconds before Girdziunas gave the home fans hope with a three-point play with nine seconds remaining. But Lofton came down and buried the dagger three to win the game.
