A 13-0 run which Cameron Jones capped with a free throws sealed the outcome, 64-37, soon after the break. Nothing changed from that moment, as Zenit kept a safe margin all the way until the final buzzer.

Ronalds Zakis and Robinson tried to change things for VEF but Landry, Hodge and Kulagin fueled a 7-0 run which made it a 15-point game, 36-21. Robinson sank a three-pointer and Mejeris followed a put-back layup with a slam but Hodge and Borovnjak allowed Zenit to stay way ahead, 51-37, at halftime. Free throws by Landry and Kulagin broke the game open, 55-37, immediately after the break. VEF couldn't see the way to the basketand a free throw by Jones capped a 13-0 run which gave Zenit a 64-37 midway through the third quarter. Zakis and Robinson fueled a 0-6 VEF run but Borovnjak and Artem Vikhrov restored a 70-47 Zenit margin after 30 minutes. VEF needed a quick comeback to return to the game and a put-back basket by Fall made Zenit call timeout at 70-51. Hodge and a three-pointer by Gordeev sealed the outcome, 79-54, with 4 minutes left - plenty of time to celebrate the club's first Eurocup win in St. Petersburg

Head Coaches

KARASEV, VASILY
Zenit St Petersburg
"We prepared well for the game and the result shows that. The support from our fans helped us a lot, we miss that on the road. The key period was the third quarter, we played good defense, but at the end we lost our concentration a bit and lost the last quarter."
MAZURS, NIKOLAJS
VEF Riga
"I want to congratulate Zenit for the victory, they were stronger and faster than us tonight. We played poorly in defense, we allowed 51 points in the first game half and we lost the chance to win."

Players

GORDEEV, DMITRII
Zenit St Petersburg
"We had the task to stop Timma in this game and I think that we played our best in defense. Thanks to the defense and good transition game we got the result we expected. "
ROBINSON, GERALD
VEF Riga
"We missed an opportunity to win today, Zenit was better than us, but we’ll continue to play hard in the Eurocup."
