Continental champion U18 FC Barcelona Lassa eased to its second victory at the EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Torneig de Bàsquet Junior Ciutat de L’Hospitalet by defeating U18 ALBA Berlin 59-81 for a 2-0 record in Group A. Sergi Martinez led Barcelona’s balanced attack with 22 points with Raimon Carrasco collecting 13 points and 3 assists for the winners, who will face fellow Spanish side U18 Herbal Gran Canaria Las Palmas in their final Group B game. Berlin dropped to 0-2 in the group despite 16 points from Hendrik Drescher. Berlin looks for its first win against U18 Union Olimpija Ljubljana.

Drescher hit Berlin’s first 6 points to put the German side ahead 6-4. Three lead changes followed before Barcelona worked an 8-13 margin on the heels of 7 points from Martinez. Jonas Mattisseck’s assists and scoring kept Berlin close, trailing 12-15. But the gap was 14-21 after 10 minutes. Luka Samanic and Martinez both hit for 4 points in a 2-12 Barcelona run for a 16-33 advantage. Berlin was not able to make much of a dent in the deficit, trailing 25-43 at halftime. Barcelona did not let up on the gas pedal in the third quarter and increased the lead to 29-52. Berlin was able to get the margin down to 16 points but Andrija Marjanovic picked up 7 points in the quarter and Barcelona was up 41-64 after 30 minutes. A Philipp Herkenhoff steal and dunk and a Drescher three-pointer had Berlin to within 57-71. But Martinez scored two more baskets as Barcelona was back up 57-75 inside the final 3 minutes.
