U18 FC Bayern Munich gave the home fans plenty to cheer about as the hosts improved to 2-0 in Group A of the ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Munich by fending off U18 Real Betis Energia Plus Seville 69-67. Kilian Binapfl scored 28 points, including two free throws with 3.2 seconds left to secure the victory. He also picked up 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, 1 block and 6 fouls drawn for an performance index rating of 44. Bruno Vrcic added 12 points and 3 assists in the win. Betis dropped to 0-2 despite 18 points from Andrzej Pluta and Tomas Balciunas had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 9 fouls drawn.

Betis went ahead 2-4 early but Luc Van Slooten nailed two three-points and Binapfl scored 7 points as Bayern jumped out to a 21-9 lead. Balciunas hit for 6 points at the other end as the margin was 24-15 after 10 minutes. Bayern was up 29-20 when Betis picked up 7 straight points to cut the gap to 2 points. Binapfl tallied 7 straight points of his own to extend the lead to 36-27. But Betis answered with a 2-8 spurt and trailed 38-35 at the break.

Two Vrcic baskets had Bayern up 43-39 but Pluta answered with 5 straight points to put Betis up 43-44. The teams went back and forth with four lead changes and Raul Postigo put Betis up 49-51. And Postigo scored just before the buzzer to give Betis a 51-53 lead after 30 minutes. The Betis lead was 55-58 but Vrcic hit a three-ball in a 9-0 surge as Bayern moved ahead 64-58. Betis punched right back with the next 6 points to even the game again. Binapfl came back at the other end with a big dunk and after Grant blocked two shots within 15 seconds, Binapfl secured the game with his two free throws with 3.2 seconds left to make it 69-64.
