In a clash that saw teams trade leads for 30 minutes, Buducnost Voli Podogorica edged INSEP 57-65 in the opening game for both teams in Group A of the Belgrade NIJT Qualifying Tournament. Buducnost took the lead for good at the end of the third quarter, but sealed the deal in the final minutes with 6 straight points from Vasilije Bacovic who finished with 17 points plus 12 rebounds. Aleksandar Novosel played the entire 40 minutes and paced the winners with 27 points. Stephane Gombauld collected 22 points and 11 rebounds for INSEP, while Cyrille Eliezer-Vanerot had 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Teams traded leads from the start, with Gombauld scoring 7 points, including a basket-plus-free throw for 10-8, but Bacovic and Novosel paced Buducnost, and Novosel ended the first quarter with a triple for 16-17. Gombauld had a pair of fastbreak layups early in the second quarter, but Bacovic and Novosel combined to score 8 more points before Daniel Kalezic hit a triple for 27-28. But Eliezer-Vanerot answered right back with a three-pointer and Gombauld had a put-back dunk helping INSEP to 32-31 halftime lead. The trend continued after the break, with Gombauld, Arthur Leboef and Elizer-Vanerot scoring after fast breaks for 42-41, but Novosel and Aleksandar Dozic put Buducnost up 44-47 going into the fourth quarter. Eliezer-Vanerot opened the final period with a put-back, but Novosel and Mihailo Radunovic hit jumpers, helping Buducnost to 46-53. Gombauld had a pair of dunks, stringing together 5 points for INSEP but Bacovic scored 6 consecutive points in the final 3 minutes, as Buducnost held on for victory.
